Do you struggle to get to sleep ? Do you wake in the middle of the night and then can't drift back off ? Do you wake up in the morning feeling exhausted ? Don't worry, you're not alone, as sadly sleep disorders are more common than you may think and actually affect 1 in 3 adults. The recommended sleep for an adult is between 7 to 9 hours sleep per night. If you're not getting this on a regular basis, it can put a strain on your mental and physical health.

Why is Sleep Important?
The importance of sleep should not be underestimated as a good night's sleep helps your body and brain to function normally and helps to protect against certain diseases and medical conditions.

A good night's sleep helps reduce stress and anxiety, boosts the immune system, enhances well-being, improves brain function and is good for the heart.

So why are so many people experiencing such poor quality sleep ? Just some of the contributing factors include stress, not being able to switch off, the brain being over stimulated, hormone imbalance, noise, being too hot or too cold and pain.

As a relaxation therapist, I offer advice and tips on how you can create a healthy bedtime routine and enjoy a better night's sleep. I do this by getting to the core of what is affecting your disrupted sleep, recommending various relaxation techniques, looking at how improvements may be made within your sleeping environment and suggesting a relaxing bedtime ritual that works for you.

I also highly recommend the use of certain essential oils when it comes to sleep and creating a relaxing bedtime routine. Essential oils can be inhaled in the palm of your hands, diffused in your bedroom or a couple of drops can be popped in your bath before bed.

There are also certain dõTERRA® essential oils and supplements that can be taken internally to help promote a better night's sleep.

dõTERRA® oils are so pure, straight from plant to bottle. They have so many wonderful healing properties, including helping to ease stress and anxiety, they are excellent for gut and cardiovascular health, improved sleep and are a great booster for the immune system.

When it comes to sleep, many essential oils have calming benefits. Essential oils like Lavender and Bergamot are rich in linalool and linalyl acetate; both compounds have well-known relaxing properties. These oils can be diffused aromatically in the bedroom to create a peaceful environment before bed. They are amazing when used as part of your bedtime routine and as they are so pure and powerful, you only need 1-2 drops. With approximately 200 drops in each bottle, it's a great investment if you want to be blessed by the soothing, healing properties of these beautiful oils.

For details on how to enjoy the benefits of these magical oils either aromatically, topically or internally and for lots more information and recommendations, visit my 'essential oils and well-being' page.
